Wind Becomes Spain’s Biggest Energy Source BUT For Every 1 Green Job Created 2.2 Jobs Are Lost Elsewhere In The Economy It’s official: last month, Spain became the only European country to derive the majority of its power generation from renewables. Spanish network operator Red Eléctrica (REE) announced that wind generation had become the country’s single largest power source, outputting 4,738 GWh of electricity in March and accounting for 21 per cent of the country’s total generation. read more

Pipeline Explosion: Federal Diaster or Example of Corporate Greed? In California, the governor, Arnold Schwarzeneger, is asking President Obama to declare a pipeline explosion a federal disaster. This would give federal funds to California so that they can clean up the damage in San Bruno caused by the explosion–damage that Schwarzeneger estimated to be over $10 million dollars. read more
