Methane Mitigation Europe 2024 took place in Amsterdam this February. It was brilliant to bear witness to the gathering of over 250 cross-industry leaders from across Europe, and the world, who are all focused on mitigation methane emissions within the oil and gas industry.
Throughout the event, participants engaged in candid discussions, not only highlighting successes, but also openly addressing the difficulties and obstacles faced in methane mitigation efforts. This commitment to transparency and collaboration underscored the collective determination to drive meaningful change and innovation within the sector.
As we reflect on the discussions that unfolded, we are reminded of the strides made in advancing methane mitigation strategies. From technological innovations and a renewed emphasis on abatement, to policy frameworks and evolving industry support, each exchange contributed to a deeper understanding of the challenges and opportunities ahead.
Looking ahead, we're excited to announce that plans are already underway for Methane Mitigation Europe 2025 - watch this space! Building upon the momentum generated at this year's event, will be deepening our grasp of industry best practices based on the learnings of the year ahead. This includes, re-evaluating the effectiveness of current technologies, exploring optimal deployment methods, and delving into the practical implications of the new EU regulations for operators, all while scrutinizing the progress that these mandates have truly yielded.

Dedicated tracks focusing on methane detection measurement or methane reduction, and extended workshops and discussion groups covering topics from OGMP 2.0 Level 5 requirements, to advanced analytics.
We were joined by leaders of GERG (The European Gas Research Group) discussing reconciliation of source-level and site-level methane emissions quantification, upcoming plans in relation to advancing methane mitigation practices, and much more.
We explored current activities in CEN and ISO on standardisation for methane emissions monitoring including source level leak detection, quantification, site level emissions quantification, and reporting standards.
We heard from leading scientists as they provided real-life case studies on asset-level quantification by UAV and Aircraft surveys, satellite and ground-based surveying of a large UK gas leak, and the key challenges in methane emissions quantification.
