Ports across the world are experiencing significantincreases in trade and growing volumes of cargo. As container ships become progressively more massive existing port infrastructure needs to evolve to accommodate increased capacity.
If the confines of a port’s geographical circumstance are prohibitive to expansion, then the only appropriate step is towards relocation of port facilities to another location.
As well as the phenomenal costs and planning involved in a relocation, environmental concerns also abound. In the following interview, we speak with an associate director at one of the world’s premier engineering consultancies on what constitutes a green port.
