Dr. Gabriela Silva is a senior leader with 20 years of experience in sustainability and climate change in the energy sector. She’s Manager, Sustainability at TransAlta, where she leads the company’s global sustainability and climate strategy and reporting. She’s a member at the Climate Advisory Committee with the City of Calgary, where she provides advice to City Council on climate mitigation and adaptation strategies. In previous roles, she has managed environmental and climate technical work with PETRONAS Canada, Environment and Climate Change Canada, United Nations Environment Programme, WorleyParsons and PETROBRAS. She holds a Ph.D. in environmental science with the University of Quebec’s National Institute of Scientific Research and the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro. She’s the winner for Best ESG Reporting by the Investor Relations Magazine Awards, Canada 2023.
