Derek Sumner is currently serving as director of production, facilities, infrastructure, and construction for Devon Energy’s Oklahoma and Eagle Ford assets. He previously served as production manager for the Delaware Basin. Sumner joined Devon in 2012 after beginning his career as a process engineer for a Gulf Coast refiner. Since joining Devon, he has held roles of increasing responsibility, including positions in midstream, facilities, supply chain, and most recently in production. He has served as chairman and currently sits on the board of directors for a local non-profit that directly benefits at-risk neighbors in our community. Sumner holds a bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering from Oklahoma State University, a master of business administration from the University of Oklahoma, and is a licensed professional engineer in Oklahoma.
