Latest optimisation approaches for optimising production and efficiently maximising recovery from heavy oil and maturing reservoirs and the way forward for multilateral well optimisation

With the quest to fully recover the last drop of oil from existing wells and reserves, organisations are looking into ways to optimise on ESP’s and are setting strategies to exploit heavy and mature reservoirs before spending millions to explore new wells. This has given rise to an increasing focus on optimising and strategising in a way to use the latest solutions and practices to get the last drop. Multilateral well optimisation and digitisation is the future for recovery and for optimising resources. The workshop will allow attendees to:
- Analysing the role of intelligent technologies to enhance production
- Address production challenges in maturing reservoir and best practices in recovery
- Selecting the right production process which suits the geology and demography and efficiently enhances production

Examining criteria for EOR and determining which EOR strategy provides best recovery and avoiding early abandonment of reservoirs
Gone are the days where oil production only involved primary stages of production. A secondary stage which involves gas and water injections are now being implemented at a commercial scale but is yet to be fully exploited and used. Operators have also started to look into tertiary stages of recovery, which involves thermal, chemical and gas injections to change the makeup of the reservoir. Each reservoir is different and needs proper planning and examining before implementing EOR techniques. The aim of an operator is to fully exploit one reservoir before abandonment and drilling for next reservoirs. The workshop will allow attendees to:
- Analyse reservoir characteristics and projections for choosing the right technique for recovery purposes from maturing reservoirs
- Understand challenges and opportunities of different secondary and tertiary EOR techniques and its impact on reservoir and surrounding environment
- Evaluating the best possible EOR technique to implement for injections and returns on investments
