Welcome to the Global LNG & Future Fuels Community

Dear Colleagues,

As we come together in 2024 for the 11th edition of our summit we continue into our second year of growth to shape the event into the LNG Bunkering and Future Fuels Global Summit 2024 which will run from the 14th – 16th May at the Novotel Amsterdam City.

We currently stand at the centre of a transformative era in the maritime industry, where the transition to cleaner energies is no longer just an option, but a need. The urgency of this transformation has been amplified by recent volatility of the market, with the ongoing war in Ukraine intensifying energy dependency concerns, and the introduction of the ETS in the maritime sector in 2024 further highlighting the need for urgent action.

We know that to achieve these shared goals of a sustainable maritime industry, true cross-sector collaboration is essential. We must work together in a unified manner and innovate together to pave the way for a cleaner future. The LNG Bunkering and Future Fuels Global Summit is a platform to allow these imperative discussions and collaborations to shape the future of the industry.

Recap the 2023 Summit Here

LNG is a clear frontrunner in the maritime industry’s shift towards cleaner fuels, with significant increases in vessel orders and infrastructure globally, yet there is still debate on its role in the broader decarbonisation journey. Some significant advantages, like availability, are obvious, but in order for us to achieve our emission reduction goals there needs to be further consideration of innovation and adaption to utilise our LNG investments.

As we look to continue our transformation, we must encourage innovation and discussion of the next generation of fuels and technology that could work alongside current investments such as ammonia, hydrogen and methanol that have gained popularity with some operators in recent years. However, the widespread adoption of these alternative fuels faces challenges related to limited guidance, availability and high production and infrastructure costs.

“Biggest turnout to any event of its kind, representation from every large player was evident and access to these individuals was easy & convenient” Mark Britton, Polaris

Addressing these issues and opportunities, the Global Summit with focus on the following key topics:

--

Unlocking the value in our fuel by maximizing value from current LNG investments with technological advancements and exploration into Bio/E/Synthetic LNG and retrofitting

--

Preparing for unknowns when embarking on transition to alternate fuels such as ammonia, hydrogen and methanol by hearing from those who have already made a move and sharing ideas.

--

Understanding regulation – discussing the evolution of industry alignment with IMO30 and IMO50 as well as understanding the impact of the ETS and Cop28 on the maritime industry.

--

Understanding different perspectives in the industry like maritime financiers and their contribution to support industry decarbonization and cargo owners – and how their sustainability decisions influence clean shipping practices.

--

Collaboration of global ports and their role in facilitating green practices and industry decarbonization through green corridor initiatives.

--

Looking at design and development of bunkering and ship infrastructure to support the multi-fuel future.

--

Insights into new innovations and technologies and their role in scaling green bunkering opportunities.

As we delve into these critical topics at the LNG Bunkering & Future Fuels Global Summit 2024, we must engage in open and constructive dialogue, sharing insights, best practices, and lessons learned from the frontlines of this energy transition. By fostering collaboration and innovation, we can collectively lead the industry to a sustainable future.
