SGMF is a non-governmental, membership-based organisation providing independent expertise on the safe, responsible and sustainable use of low and zero carbon marine fuels.

We are more than a maritime energy society. We pioneer global transformation by delivering trusted, science-backed guidance that supports the maritime industry's transition to cleaner fuels.

Our role is to remove complexity from sustainable fuel adoption, enabling organisations to focus on what they do best; whether operating vessels today or innovating tomorrow's transport solutions.

What we do

Our core activity is guiding the industry on the safe, responsible and sustainable use of low flashpoint fuels. We do this by developing fact-based, best-practice guidance, including guidelines and checklists that support real-world application. We collate, refine and share expertise from across our membership and provide support to all stakeholders involved in the rapidly expanding clean sustainable fuels value chain.
