In this workshop, with the discussions around the sector’s consideration for low carbon fuel standard programs, attendees explore what changes they would like to see in North American maritime regulation. Those involved

will work in groups to come up with new policies and incentives for the sector which must be realistic and then they will present their proposals with their justifications for such changes

in regulation to the wider group in order to stir a discussion around what more could be done from a policy and regulatory perspective to catalyse the sector’s decarbonization.

 • Overview of the US Renewable Fuel Standard, RIN credits and estimates of new revenue streams available

• Discussion of the US maritime industry joining forces to lobby for inclusion in the Renewable Fuel Standard

• Debate regarding the practicalities of such a program and manoeuvring around potential hindrances
