2:00 PM WORKSHOP A: LOW-FLASHPOINT FUELS IN THE U.S. – A REGULATORY PERSPECTIVE

As industry seeks to meet the IMO’s Greenhouse Gas Strategy (GHG)

to reduce carbon emissions, future fuels such as Bio and Synthetic LNG, Methanol, Hydrogen and Ammonia are emerging as potential fuel alternatives throughout the U.S Marine Transportation System (MTS). This workshop will review existing policies from the U.S Coast Guard on LNG

and collaboration between various

U.S Coast Guard offices to ensure regulatory review from plan review to bunkering oversight from the field units. Additionally, this workshop will provide current state of the industry and U.S. Coast Guard’s involvement with future fuels to help safely facilitate industry’s energy transition in the U.S MTS to meet IMO’s goal to reduce emissions by 40% by 2030 and 70% by 2050.
