Alasdair Thomas is Decommissioning Manager for the North Sea Transition Authority (NSTA) responsible for stewardship of the UKCS industry in delivery of cost effective decommissioning. The NSTA regulate and influence the oil and gas, offshore hydrogen and carbon storage industries for the UK Continental Shelf (UKCS), with a focus on maximising economic recovery, reducing emissions and accelerating the energy transition. Prior to taking on this role in early 2021, Alasdair spent over 30 years in industry, working for bp. During that time, he held a number of different operational and engineering leadership roles across all sectors of the UK industry - downstream (onshore); midstream and upstream. His most recent role prior to joining the NSTA was as bp Major Projects Engineering Manager for a number of major greenfield new field development projects. Alasdair has a degree (CEng) in Energy Engineering with Management (MEng) background. Out with work you will find him on his bike or on the golf course.
