During the last 40 years Ray has led nine consecutive organizations - including some of the world’s largest and most complex operations - to public recognition for excellence, achieving an average 16% compounding annual improvement toward the goals of those organizations. Ray is the only person to receive all three forms of recognition from the Shingo Institute: Shingo Prize for Operational Excellence, Shingo Award for Professional Publication, and induction to the Shingo Academy. Ray is also the only person to receive all three forms of recognition from Industry Week Magazine: America’s Best designation in discrete operations, America’s Best in process operations and induction to the Manufacturing Hall of Fame. Ray is currently an Overseer for the U.S. National Quality Award, appointed by the U.S. Secretary of Commerce.
