Ukeme D. Essien, MD MPH is the Founder of Factor 7 Labs, a design and systems innovation lab that helps organizations de-risk complex decisions with evidence—through rapid discovery, validated prototypes, and pilot-ready decision narratives grounded in real-world constraints.
She previously served as a Senior Innovation Partner at Noble, an offshore drilling services company, where she helped launch the Low Carbon Solutions function and led digital innovation efforts that translated field realities into practical tools, workflows, and data-driven decision support. Her work focuses on the “last mile” of AI in industrial environments: not just models and dashboards, but adoption—clear ownership, trusted data, usable interfaces, and feedback loops that drive measurable operational outcomes.
With training in human-centered design and a background in medicine and public health, Ukeme brings a systems perspective to AI in the Energy sector—linking technology choices to behavior, process, and performance.
As AI continues to evolve at breakneck speed, the energy sector stands at a pivotal crossroad, balancing the promise of transformative efficiency with the complexity of real-world implementation. The true value of AI lies not in experimentation, but in aligning deployment with strategic business priorities and operational realities. This session explores how energy organizations can move beyond hype to build pragmatic, high-impact AI roadmaps.
