Workshop Day - 5th May, 2026

11:00 am - 11:30 am REGISTRATION

11:30 am - 1:00 pm WORKSHOP A: DECARBONISATION GAINS – ENERGY EFFICIENCY AND DIGITALISATION MORNING

With ongoing uncertainty in a global framework, to instil confidence in alternative fuel pathways, shipowners are turning to how emission gains can be made through investment in fuel efficiency technology, and gains from digitalisation. This focus morning will shine a light on the current efficiency technology that shipowners are investing in, like improved voyage planning, hull maintenance and speed management.
Other gains are also being made through the digitalisation of operations and data tracking for further decarbonisation gains for example predictive maintenance and AI-driven performance analytics.
There is no option for shipowners to wait to invest in decarbonisation for compliance, and given the uncertain nature of full fuel pathway investment, these areas have become a number one priority for minimising cost implications of non-compliance.
Join this morning focus to set out your priorities, and find innovative ways to decrease emissions, with more confidence and certainty.

1:00 pm - 2:00 pm NETWORKING LUNCH

2:00 pm - 3:30 pm WORKSHOP C: How Will IMO Postponement Impact Me?
Ian Aitchison - Director, Communications, Sea-lng

Throughout the conference, there will be much conversation surrounding the IMO decision to postpone the adoption of Net-Zero framework, and how this might impact the wider use of alternative fuels.

The aim of this workshop is to bring together different stakeholders across the value chain to evaluate what this means for you specifically. The decision to postpone for some is a welcome decision as it gives time to plan fuel strategy, understand and define the framework before a decision is made, and for some it will directly impact their ability to produce.

Use this workshop as a foundation for understanding the value chain impacts and how the conference can be a productive and timely discussion on moving forward in uncertain regulatory settings.

2:00 pm - 3:30 pm WORKSHOP D: Future and Present of e-Fuel Development
Matthías Ólafsson - Executive Consultant, eFuel Alliance
The future of investment into current alternative fuel pathways greatly relies on the assumption that bio and efuels will be available on a wider scale, and at a lower cost in the future, when they become the only compliant version of the fuel. With eFuel development booming in some regions, there is real opportunity for the expansion of this supply, for future use.
Currently, the frameworks needed to enable eFuel production as scale do not exist. Forexample CO2-based tax, but more ambitious emission quotas are to come in maritime. Join this workshop to be a part of discussions including:
• What regulatory recommendations does the industry need to drive eFuel production
• What is the current state of development, and where are investments being made
• How can maritime gain from the use of eFuels
