Main Conference Day Two - November 6

11:10 AM Case Study: A Roadmap to Optimizing Best-In-Class HSE Strategies: Oxy’s Success Story Through the OMS Lens

In 2021 Oxy achieved one of its lowest OSHA injury and illness incidence rates in its history, whilst also pledging to achieve net-zero greenhouse gas emissions for its total carbon inventory by 2040. This monumental milestone and ambitious commitment presented the need to sustain and elevate HSE standards.

Jon led the charge in creating a technical HSE strategy to help support these objectives for Oxy’s Onshore assets, which produce over 1 million BOE per day. A fundamental part of his approach was the enterprise-wide implementation of an Operating Management System (OMS) system, which integrated HSE and sustainability practices into their daily operations, in alignment with IOGP standards. Additionally, he deployed tools and programs to optimize HSE functions while ensuring seamless harmonization and alignment between the field operations and HSE teams.

In this session Jon will cover Oxy’s approach to maintaining industry-leading HSE standards, tackling emerging challenges, and driving a culture of continuous improvement through the strategic lens of the OMS.
