With respect to drill pipe and BHA tool joints / connections, DS-1 says under 3.11.5 that API and similar threads...raised protrusions can be removed with a hand file or 'soft' (nonmetallic) buffing wheel."e; I see inspectors use Rex-All A54 'cotton-fibre' discs to 'clean glue / Baker LOK' out of box and pin thread roots. I don't like it, but I don't see in API or DS-1 where you can't do this. the discs ARE non-metallic, but i don't like the thought of roots and flanks being 'cleaned' with these discs. Anybody have any advice with respect to this practice???
