COLLABORATING TO DRIVE THE GLOBAL DECARBONISATION OF THE MARITIME INDUSTRY

Following last year's event, we will be co-locating the LNG Bunkering Summit with the Alternative Future Marine Fuel Summit in Amsterdam. This year’s discussion, however, will extend far beyond a comparison of fuels. The focus is now on understanding which fuel strategies will yield the lowest commercial risk under uncertain policy conditions, and how shipowners, fuel suppliers, ports, and investors can collectively shape a more stable market.

The postponed adoption of the IMO's Net-Zero Framework has deprived the maritime industry of long-awaited certainty. Without a global standard on carbon pricing, GHG reduction and emissions targets, the critical momentum of low-carbon fuels is under serious threat.

Global regulation might be on pause, but the industry – and Global Maritime Decarbonisation – certainly is not. Vessels are on order, infrastructure is being built – and compliance costs are already being levied under EU ETS and FuelEU Maritime. The absence of regulatory certainty does not stop the transition; it only increases the risk of getting it wrong.

The coming year must be used to strengthen fuel pathways, prepare for any regulatory outcome in October 2026, and ensure that investments being made today will not become stranded tomorrow.

JOIN THE DEBATE SO THAT YOU CAN:

globe image

Understand how the MEPC outcome will impact shipowner fuel strategies, LNG, and future fuels, by examining the Net-Zero Framework post-April and using 2025 to set conditions for a clear October decision.

globe image

Inform decisions on future fuel pathway investments and costs, by hearing from suppliers on their plans for future biofuel and clean fuel availability and production developments.

iphone image

Collaborate with those across the value chain to suggest solutions for the lack of global certification standards, to increase the viability of low-carbon fuels available across the globe.

iphone image

Learn what developments are being made in the Ammonia and Methanol space, to strengthen the safety and operation of these less mature fuels, and understand how maritime fuel supply is impacted by increasing fuel demand in other industries.

iphone image

Create more certainty in the future by connecting with those throughout the value chain, to understand how their risks are managed with offtake agreements, and allow for better contracting for the development of low-carbon fuels.

Interview | Why Waiting Is the Biggest Risk: What Practical Decisions the Shipping Industry Must Make Now

Drawing on SGMF’s frontline work with shipowners, ports, and regulators, this conversation explores LNG’s evolving role, multi-fuel strategies, port readiness, emissions measurement, and the practical steps required to minimise stranded-asset risk.

The Global LNG Landscape Report 2026

The maritime industry is evolving. Are you ready for what’s next? Our brand-new mini-report on LNG availability and the transition to Bio-LNG and Green LNG gives you a front-row seat to the future of sustainable shipping.

Interview | Uncertain Rules, Shared Responsibility: How the Shipping Industry Must Act Together to Decarbonise

With the Net-Zero Framework postponed until 2026, the industry faces fragmented regulation, evolving fuel pathways, and growing compliance costs under EU ETS and FuelEU Maritime. In this exclusive interview, Alexander Prokopakis, Executive Director of IBIA, explains why the industry must take proactive, collective action to navigate uncertainty, manage risk, and accelerate decarbonisation.
