The past three years have seen cyber attacks involving states and rogue hackers rising in frequency and becoming increasingly sophisticated. In 2010, internet security specialist, McAfee Labs processed an average of almost 55,000 pieces of new malware every day.

There were approximately 110 reported serious cyber attacks per month for the duration of 2012, hitting organisations across the whole spectrum of the business world ranging from oil and gas multinationals to the military and e-commerce sites.
