FPSO - FLNG
Operators are increasingly looking to floating production storage and offloading (FPSO) solutions to commercialise previously stranded resources in the world’s oceans.
In addition to FPSO units that have been in mainstream use since the first converted tanker, Shell’s Castellón, was launched in 1977, floating liquefied natural gas (FLNG) vessels have been designed to monetise gas reserves that have been unviable up to now. The largest hull ever launched is that of the FLNG vessel Prelude, slated to produce first gas in 2017.
There are now hundreds of FPSOs in service from the North Sea to the South China Sea, and each arena is replete with unique challenges, from corrosion to moorings, financing to adverse climatic conditions. As the oil price oscillates, the floater industry swings between all-time highs and lows.
This resource centre represents the leading source of essential information for the FPSO and FLNG industry, from up-to-date news about the latest floater projects, to the technological aspects of one of the most innovative parts of the oil and gas sector.
This resource centre is also the content hub for the FPSO industry’s leading annual events in the Eastern and Western hemispheres: the FPSO World Congress in Singapore and the FPSO Europe Congress based out of London, United Kingdom.
