Optimize Manual, Paper-based Processes with AI

The goal of becoming a “data-driven” and “AI-enabled” business has never been more attainable for Oil & Gas companies.  There are three major reasons:

1. Innovation has traditionally been focused on developing resources but in the current environment there is a greater focus on operating more efficiently.
2. There are many rudimentary document-based processes that have gone unchanged in decades and are ripe for optimization.
3. Significant breakthroughs in deep neural network architecture make it possible to extract information from documents and refine data for consumption by downstream systems, making it possible to automate paper-based processes

Tianhao Wu, PhD, has been a data scientist for more than 15 years.  In 2005 he began working at Ask.com, one of the first search engines to respond to questions in natural language rather than by traditional keyword searching.  Since then he has been deeply enmeshed in helping machines and humans communicate in natural language.
