New Dutch data breach legislation requires organisations to provide insight into the scope and cause of a data breach. Additionally the effectiveness of security controls could be challenged, since a breach proved these to be less than adequate. Considering that most breaches are detected long after the initial attack, our incident response team is often faced with a lack of available (forensic) data. Without continuous cyber security operations both questions will prove to be difficult to answer.
Organisations that run a Cyber Security Operation Center (CSOC) not only detect an attack better, but are also more capable to comply with aforementioned regulation.
