The Islamic Republic of Pakistan is the sixth most populous country in the world and heavily dependent on energy imports, particularly natural gas. A controversial pipeline from Iran is currently under construction to supply the country with abundant gas from the pariah nation’s huge natural gas fields.
Official sources within the Pakistani administration have mooted an investment of about $1.5 billion for about 500 exploration and development wells dedicated to shale gas production, but as of yet there are no official state plans with regards to shale oil stock.
