World seaborne trade is set to increase by 60 per cent in the space of the next decade and a half, from approximately 10 billion tonnes in 2015 to 16 billion tonnes by 2030.
As a consequence, the world’s seaports - from the North Atlantic to Asia Pacific - are undergoing prodigious expansion and relocation to accommodate the influx of added freight traffic and tonnage, as well as berth the latest generation of super container ships.
